“Romance Of The Cowboy”

In the mid 1960’s my Grandfather, John Roy, put on a small country rodeo at his place called Massacre Rocks, which is now an Idaho State Park. While gathering footage in 2010 for a documentary about John Roy, I needed footage of a small rodeo and the Curlew Valley Rodeo in Stone Idaho was suggested. My intention was to shoot motion but at the last moment I opted to shoot still photos instead. The Annual Curlew Valley Rodeo was started in 1951, the year of my birth. This may partially explain my deepening connection to this wonderful little rodeo on the Idaho, Utah border and I expect each July to make my annual photographic pilgrimage.
